Noticeboard

It is with regret that we inform you that Dr Razzaq is leaving Bute House Medical Centre and will no longer be offering any appointments to see her.

Please see the following message from Dr Razzaq –

“As many of you are aware, I have been away from Bute House Medical Centre for the past four months as my partners kindly granted me a sabbatical. During this time, I have been working closely with Luton CCG to develop a pathway to better care for our Frail Elderly population. I have realised that this area of work is my passion, and as a consequence, I have decided to step down from GP Partner at Bute House to dedicate more time to service improvement and also to pursue a Masters in "Ageing and Society" at King's College London.

It has been a privilege to have been given the opportunity to look after you for the past 11 years and I will miss being your family doctor. I leave you in the excellent care of my amazing partners, Drs Kothari, Dissanayake, Hill and Satchi and I am sure that Bute House will continue to thrive as a centre of learning as well as the provision of excellent health care.”

General advice

General information

In general, most vaccinations are available on the NHS.

However, ACWY (for Saudi Arabia) costs £40 including the necessary certificate

ACWY Vaccine for Hajj/Umrah

Why do I need the ACWY Vaccine?

All pilgrims going to hajj or Umrah are now required by the government of Saudi Arabia to have a certificate of vaccination against meningococcal meningitis ACWY. This vaccine should have bee received no more than 3 years and not less than 10 days before arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Why does the Surgery charge?

The vaccine is not available on the NHS. We therefore offer this as a private service and cover our costs for the vaccine itself, the paperwork and nursing time.

What is the Cost?

Bute House Medical Centre has set the charge at £40, including the vaccine and certificate. We ask you to pay in cash before making the appointment. We are aware that there may be other clinics offering to give you the vaccine for less money. You do not have to get the vaccine here and if you would like to go to a private clinic then this in no way affects the other care you will receive at our Practice.

Other Vaccinations

Hepatitis B may be chargeable,(£30 per injection) depending on the reason you are having it:

For Medical Reason Free of Charge

Travel or Occupational Health Chargeable

Please speak to our Nurses to discuss further.
